Manuscript Submissions

Each division of Blue Throat has highly specific requirements for submissions.  These guidelines must be followed in order for your work to be considered.  Failure to follow the outlined procedures will result in manuscripts being rejected without consideration.  We very much want to receive and review your manuscript, however, we must insist that the guidelines for submission are strictly adhered to.  Below you will find the requirements for each division.

Blue Throat Academics:

Prospectus required.  All proposed projects should be outlined and submitted for review prior to the completion of the manuscript.  The prospectus should discuss the significance of the work, note how the work differs from similar works and should also identify the unique contribution of the work to the identified field of study.

Please note that Blue Throat Academics only publishes material of a scholarly nature that follows the formats of accepted academic and scholarly publications.  All submissions should identify the target audience for the text and demonstrate that there is a sufficient market of interest for the material to justify publication. 

Each Prospectus and Submission should include the following:

  1. Sample Chapter that is original to the work and is illustrative of the manuscript as a whole.
  2. Identification of the target market.
  3. Discuss the significance of the work and identify its contribution to the academic field.
  4. Prospectus should, except in rare cases follow APA or MLA publication style.
  5. Submit four (4) copies, non-returnable (unless SASE included) of each prospectus to the following address:

Blue Throat Press: Literature and General Interest Books, Fiction and Non-fiction

Non-fiction Books: A variety of books from a broad spectrum are currently being encouraged for submission.  However, please note that books should be complete, including copy-edited, at the time of submission.  All submissions must adhere to the following:

  1. Four (4) copies, non-returnable.
  2. Statement addressing production needs, including, but not limited to, photography, typesetting, and cover design.
  3. All work must be original to the manuscript.  A statement by the artist certifying originality must accompany all artwork.
  4.  Market analysis, specifying the target market as well as similar works for which the work will be in competition.

Fiction:

Not currently accepting unsolicited submissions.


On the Back of a Mouse Books:

We are actively seeking submission of manuscripts and projects to our children’s division.  However, due to the extreme costs of bringing children’s books to publication, we insist that writers and artist adhere to the following guidelines:

Only fully conceived and fully actualized ideas will be considered for publication.  In effect, we will not review or accept for review any books or projects that are still in the “idea phase.”    In effect, we will only review for acceptance a submission that is complete.  All text, all art work and ideally, all formatting of the project will have occurred before submission.  If possible, at least four copies of the text, including art proofs should accompany each submission.  While the final project may deviate from the submission it is expected that each submission will be complete as regards the above.  All submissions should be sent to:
